Music video Prototypes

Image
After contemplating the meanings behind the lyrics of the song I have chosen I began to pick them apart into scene concept ideas and created a story board along with the shots andd set I will be using in my music video.  After creating the storyboard I started making the prototype for the video using images that are timed with the song to symbolise the length of the scenes.  I then found all the appropriate set that I would like to use in my videos, including one of the actors I will be encorporating (younger sister Laura)

Album Cover

Image
This is my concept idea for the album cover for my artist. the album name relates to the first song on the album which is also the song I will be creating a music video for "Pretty hurts". The heavy red lipstick emphasises society's vision of the perfect woman and the flame represents the pain of reaching these expectations and how it wears away our body positivity away just like a flame.

Arabella Backstory

Arabella-Grace Matthews (born 18th September 2001) is a British singer and songwriter. She first gained attention when she uploaded "Navy Skies" to SoundCloud, which resulted in her getting discovered by Warner music. Her songs are written and produced by her sister Layla, with whom she collaborates her projects.  Arabella was born in Kettering (Northamptonshire - East Midlands) and studied music at a local college before gaining fame. Surprisingly her favourite music to listen to is Rock, however she discovered that she has a talent for R&B/soul.  From a young age Arabella has struggled with her body image to this day, this is an explanation to her fashion sense where she is very expressive about how she feels about society's expectations inspired by Billie Eilish and her choice to cover up in order to not get sexualised. Arabella is very passionate about the topic of body image, she is a social media influenncer helping women with body image and uses this as a way

Ali Gatie website analysis

Image
The artist I am looking at to inspire my music video and website is Ali Gatie, who is signed to Warner Music.  Ali Gatie  is an Iraqi–Canadian rapper, singer and songwriter. Ali Gatie's website gives off a R&B/Soul vibe through the pink/purple background he uses along with the pink light that was used in the photo of him.   Lower we get an option to watch and listen to his latest music video still on a purple background corresponding to his music genre.  Scrolling further down we get links to his individual albums, his website clearly resembling his newest album "Running on my mind". Right at the end of the website we get a link to his merch and all his social medias.  This is the music video I will be analysing and taking inspiration from "It's You"  The music video opens up with a dark street, some lamp light onto a white old fashioned car. The artists name pops up on screen in a vibrant yellow and all lowercase letters followed by the title in the sam

Pretty Hurts Song analysis

"Pretty Hurts" [Harvey Keitel:]  Ms. Third ward, your first question - what is your aspiration in life? [Beyoncé:]  Oh... My aspiration in life... would be... to be happy. (Uh huh huh) (Uh huh huh) (Uh huh huh) [Verse 1:] Mama said, " You're a pretty girl. What's in your head, it doesn't matter Brush your hair, fix your teeth. What you wear is all that matters." [Pre-Hook:] Just another stage, pageant the pain away This time I'm gonna take the crown Without falling down, down, down [Hook:] Pretty hurts, we shine the light on whatever's worst Perfection is a disease of a nation, pretty hurts, pretty hurts Pretty hurts, we shine the light on whatever's worst We try to fix something but you can't fix what you can't see It's the soul that needs the surgery (Uh huh huh) [Verse 2:] Blonder hair, flat chest TV says, "Bigger is better." South beach, sugar free Vogue says, "Thinner is better." [Pre-Hook:] Just another

Survey research

Image
I managed to reach my optimal audience which allows me to create my music video based off of their answers to my survey to make it most appealing to them.    The majority of my audience listens to rock which influences my song choice, I'm still considering using the songs I have been looking at in my original research but finding a rock cover.  The majority of my audience is aware of the issue I am looking at which gives me a sense that it's also something they're passionate about.  From this question I learned that the majority of my audience considers themselves as kind, this gives me the idea that the audience will sympethise with my music video.  Knowing that most of my audience uses instagram correlates to my research about body image expectation as instagram is what promotes society's body expectations through instagram models. This gave me an idea to use the app itself in my music video to show this.
