24K Magic - Bruno Mars

What representation of the artist are constructed in this music video? HOW does the use of camera, editing and mise-en-scene help to construct these?

Fot such a popular  song, there's quite a lot that the audiences have missed while singing along to the catchy chorus. One of my main controversies when it comes to this song is that it was nominated for Favourite Music Video at the 2017 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. It's obvious that the music video was greatly influenced by the typical Pop music videos, showing off his wealth and showing everyone what a perty animal he is. But when looking deeper into the lyrics of the song and how the camera captures the song one could be greatly surpised to know this isn't the innocent song it seems to be.

The exponential shot at the beginning of the video is of the singer’s private jet lowering its steps while surrounded by expensive cars, obviously because he’s loaded. We then get a lovely close up of his blinged out hands while he pulls on more gold rings and shows off his 237 different chains. There was a huge range of angles the helped keep the audience engaged none the less.

The editing in this video sure lets us focus on the important things, like Bruno Mars. But we can't forget about his faithful boy gang that have the privilege of driving him around and using some mobility scooters while throwing money around. Truly inspirational. The editor did a great job of making him the main focus of the whole entire video until it came to showing off the women in bikinis which is probably meant to mean that he's constantly surrounded by gorgeous females because he's just so rich. The majority of the time the editing and cutting follows the tempo of the song and cut on the beat.

Shout out to this incredibly creepy bit ^^^^

The mise-en-scene in this video is also very structured. Bruno Mars (fully clothed) always in the middle, surrouned by his minions (also fully clothed), who are then all surrounded by dancing ladies (in a minimal amount of clothing) because there's nothing better than some half naked women which is a pure example of the male gaze. Almost every scene also includes either:
-Expensive cars
-Money
-Jewelery
-Some sort of expensive thing
-Women
-Bruno Mars
There are also a couple of small choreographed dances to help engage the audience.
There seems to be no specific colour theme in this video however the colours used are mostly vibrant and eye-catching.
It can be assumed that the whole video was filmed in Las Vegas to highlight just how rich Bruno Mars is.

The preferred reading of this video is that Bruno Mars is really cool and great at Dancing, throwing parties very day because he can with the amount of money he has, as well as getting all the women he wants that are clearly drawn to his riches.
This is where many could argue that his video is clearly just objectifying women, and flaunting his riches for stupid things he really doesn't need, like the mobility scooters.
